Experience the Magic of a Real Telephone Intercom

The “Exchange in a Box” is more than just a product—it’s a gateway to authentic, immersive experiences.

Tired of bulky, expensive PBX systems? Our simple, plug-and-play solution, designed by a UK telecom expert with over 30 years of experience, is the answer. We created the “Exchange in a Box” to fill a crucial gap in the market: a high-quality, cost-effective intercom system that works perfectly with the classic British telephones you love.

Why Choose Our Telephone Intercom?

* Simple & Fast Setup: No complex manuals or frustrating wiring. Just connect two standard hard-wired UK landline phones to the unit, and you’re ready to communicate.

* Authentic UK Performance: The unit is designed specifically for the UK’s 3-wire system, producing genuine British dial tones and that distinctive ringing sound that instantly transports users back in time.

* Versatile & Reliable: Whether you’re building a suspenseful escape room, staging a period play, or creating an interactive museum exhibit, our robust system is built for repeated, professional use.

* Supports All Your Phones: Use it with any combination of modern push-button telephones or vintage rotary dial phones. Our technology ensures they all work seamlessly together.

Each unit is quality-checked, and comes with a 12-month guarantee. It’s the simple, effective way to add a touch of authentic telephone magic to your project.

All parts required are provided with the exception of the standard landline telephones.

Your land line telephones (not provided) just plug into standard “BT style” telephone sockets that come with the unit.

The system includes two telephone cables (one 17 meters long and one 3 meters). However if needed a standard telephone extension cables can be used to extend the range by up to 100 meters (provided the telephone extension cable is of good quality).

This solution is “plug and play” and as such it has no user configurable options. For example, the ring cadence (UK vs US) or telephone numbers can not be changed by the user and they have to be pre-set in our workshop. However if you contact us in advance we can build your specific telephone numbers into the build.

Before you buy we strongly advise you to watch the “Installation Video” below. This is particularly important if you wish to use the “dialling” on stage and intend to dial out from an old vintage telephone.

Please note that because this solution is specifically designed for UK land-line telephones (the UK have a 3 wire, rather than a 2 wire internal wiring telephone system) therefore this solution will not work without adaptation in the US. So this “Exchange in a Box” is currently only available for sale in the UK.

WHY EXCHANGE IN A BOX

We could not find any simple cost effective solutions that would support both old pulse dial telephones and modern push button phones.

We love old dial telephones so we developed our own software solution based on reliable industry standard telephony hardware.

RELIABLE SOLUTION

All our vintage intercom telephony solutions are calibrated on dedicated BT/GPO test equipment.

We believe we are currently the only people in the UK offering these devices. Our system is based on “off the shelf” commercial grade telephony/computer hardware.

We develop the software and provide telephony knowledge to make them work for our customers.
